Resume Bullet Points That Get You Shortlisted (With Examples)

Recruiters spend seconds on each resume. Bullet points that show impact and relevance get you shortlisted; vague ones get skipped.

Use the action–context–result formula

Start with a strong verb (Built, Improved, Led, Implemented). Add context (what, for whom, with what). End with a result (metric, outcome, or impact).

Examples

  • Weak: "Worked on a web project." Strong: "Built a REST API in Node.js that reduced response time by 30% for 500+ daily users."
  • Weak: "Did data analysis." Strong: "Analyzed user behaviour data with Python and Pandas; findings led to a 15% increase in feature adoption."
  • Weak: "Part of the development team." Strong: "Led integration of payment gateway; reduced failed transactions by 20%."

If your bullets still feel generic, use a resume analyzer to get line-by-line feedback and role-specific suggestions.
